New Horizons Receives Mental Health Grant from Community Foundation of Abilene

New Horizons was chosen as one of four recipients for the first ever Mental Health grant awarded by Community Foundation of Abilene. The grant was established as an endowment fund from the closing and sale of the Abilene Psychiatric Center. Grants went to non-profit organizations that are increasing access to mental health treatment for underserved populations.

New Horizons received $10,000 and was acknowledged at the Foundation's annual grant reception in April.

New Horizons expands to new office in Wichita Falls

New Horizons celebrated the expansion of its Child Placing Agency in Wichita Falls on October 3, 2014 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. This facility will help continue fulfilling the needs of children in Wichita Falls through foster care and adoption services. The office is located at 4722 Taft Blvd., Suite 8 in Wichita Falls, Texas.

New Horizons Presented With $74K Check


June 2014

An Abilene organization, that helps provide housing and counseling for children in need, is getting much needed support. On Wednesday, a check was presented to New Horizons for $74,000 from the Bilbo Golf Classic. The amount raised from the event held early May was higher than the previous year, according to Communications and Grant Coordinator Hannah Wiginton. The organization has been in operation for more than 40 years.

New Horizons Hosts 24th Annual Ranch Super Bowl

New Horizons' kids recently participating in the 24th Annual New Horizons Super Bowl. It was a perfect weather day for the event. Points are awarded for scoring but also awarded if everyone on the team makes a pass and catches a pass! There are “special” players (usually the little kids) on each team that get a little extra help to score. This year there were some really great examples of some of the older kids really going out of their way to make sure the little kids on their team scored or got to make big plays!
